WP1: New Radio Over-the-Air Metrology
WP Leader: AAU
Other participants: RISE, NPL, CMI, METAS, MVG, Anritsu AU, IMTelecom, SURREY, Keysight BE, CAICT, ZTE AB
Objective: The aim of this work package is to support standardisation work by developing and validating practical, fast and cost-effective radiated over-the-air performance and conformance methodologies for 5G new radio systems (e.g. user equipment, base stations, and automotive systems) to enable reliable trade-offs between measurement efficiency and facility costs for sub-6 GHz and mm-wave bands
Structure:
- Task 1.1: Efficient metrological methods for new radio over-the-air system performance evaluation
- Task 1.2: Metrology for new radio over-the-air RF parametric measurement
WP2: Radio Propagation Metrology for Wide-bandwidth Communications up to sub-THz
WP Leader: QMUL
Other participants: AAU, NPL, BJTU, Anritsu AU, ZTE AB, CAICT, Keysight BE
Objective: The aim of this work package is to develop a traceable methodology and to characterise the radio propagation channel up to 750 GHz for wide-bandwidth communications with respect to complexity, time efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The characterisation will focus on outcomes that are suitable for feeding into standardisation efforts across the spectrum, specifically in the emerging sub-THz frequency bands.
Structure:
- Task 2.1: Development of traceable channel sounding testbeds and validation up to 750 GHz
- Task 2.2: Metrology for wide bandwidth channel characterisations and measurement campaigns up to 750 GHz
- Task 2.3: Channel modelling and validation of mm-wave and sub-THz channels
WP3: Traceable and Efficient new radio RF exposure metrology
WP Leader: METAS
Other participants: LNE, NPL, RISE, CMI, SURREY, IMTelecom, SPEAG, MVG, Keysight BE, NNF
Objective: The aim of this work package is to develop traceable, and time-efficient RF exposure assessment methods. The methods will be efficient in terms of measuring a reduced number of exploitation modes and avoiding testing all potentially possible configurations.
Structure:
- Task 3.1: Demodulation of new radio signals
- Task 3.2: Testbed for traceable calibration of new radio RF exposure measurement systems
- Task 3.3: Develop and evaluate a methodology for measuring Power Density exposure levels around 5G new radio base stations
- Task 3.4: Development and evaluation of the measurement methodology for the Specific Absorption Rate and Absorbed Power Density of 5G new radio mobile phones
WP4: Creating Impact
WP Leader: NPL
Other participants: CMI, RISE, AAU, IMTelecom, Anritsu AU, Keysight BE, MVG, NNF, ZTE AB, BJTU, CAICT, METAS, LNE, QMUL, SPEAG, SURREY
Objective: The aim of this work package is to implement an impact strategy based on a dissemination, communication and exploitation plan, and involving all the participants who will work in close collaboration to keep maintaining the efforts during the lifetime of the project and beyond.
Structure:
- Task 4.1: Dissemination and communication
- Task 4.2: Exploitation and uptake
